About Psychodynamic Therapy and Counselling
"Go back a little to leap further" - John Clarke
My practice, which is based upon attachment and psychodynamic theories, is a talking therapy exploring our relationships and how the past has come to influence our present behaviour. This gives an adaptable model which I can draw upon to understand and support you.
From our work together there comes an enhanced awareness of how difficulties in your life have developed and with this the ability to consciously make choices and adapt for more satisfying outcomes.
Whether you want to look at a specific recurring problem or have a more general sense of dissatisfaction, taking the time out to focus on personal growth is a positive and rewarding investment.
You become aware of your needs and recognise when these are being compromised. You learn to reflect and choose direction - all of which works to give you a greater sense of autonomy, confidence in your own resources and resilience.
The first step is for us to meet up so that you can assess if you think you will be comfortable and feel secure in our working together. It is also a chance for us to practically assess your needs and if I do not think I have the relevant skills then I can offer you some guidance on where you might find these.
